Disaster on the Highway
It is an absolute miracle that members of the Medlock family are alive today. On a Saturday afternoon, our team was driving to Gillette Wyoming to attend a racing event. They were all in high spirits after a great night of racing in Casper the night before, with Justin taking his first top five finish in the A feature event. They were driving their Chevy Duramax, which was pulling their racing trailer. Justin's parents were following along behind us in their Yukon, which was pulling a small ATV trailer. Our lives changed forever that day. A drunk driver hit our trailer in the middle of day! This collision caused our truck to jack-knife to the left, which threw our truck in a roll. We rolled twice while the trailer continuously slammed down on top of us. After the truck hit our trailer, it flipped around just missing a small white car and while flying through the air where it then collided with Justin's parent's Yukon. While screaming for their lives and being battered around in the truck, the earth finally stopped moving for Justin and April.

Then panic and adrenaline set in for them. They soon realized that their dog Tazzer was thrown from truck. April began screaming for Tazzer seeing him alive up from the crash scene. Meanwhile Justin discovered that his parent's truck had also been hit. He found his dad not moving with the door ripped off. Ambulances, police and fire trucks came from neighboring cities while eyewitnesses scrambled to help where they could. After the ambulances rushed Justin's battered parents to the hospital, the severity of accident sunk in for Justin and April as they assessed the disaster. The fact that anyone was alive was proof that God had His hand in this true miracle. The trailer completely destroyed the entire backend of the truck, leaving only small areas above April and Justin's head to survive. The ravine kept the trailer from rolling and it sat on top of the truck. The amazement that Tazzer was thrown from the cab is that if he had not, he could be dead because the roof now touched the bottom of the back of the front seats. After leaving the vehicles in the hands of the safety crews, Justin and April also went to the hospital for evaluation. The worst of all of us was Justin's dad who had major internal and external damage.

Everyone is recovering very slowly after a long trip home. We didn't get back until late in the week as it took many days in Wyoming access the damage and deal with insurance and wrecking yards. Everything was destroyed except for some personal belongings, which were packed into a u-haul. The racecar damage is still being accessed as well as physical injuries. Praise God for the many miracles that He worked that day and continues in our lives. We know without an absolute doubt that our angels were at work on Highway 59. Please pray for physical and spiritual healing as we navigate this long road to recovery.
