With this title, John Amuchastegui sent us a letter, where it tells us that he admires the immigrants of "before", because according to what he relates, he assures us that the new wave of immigrants are finishing off with this nation. The ones from "before" arrived to the country with another mentality. They learned the language and they adapted to society. The same does not occur with new people that are arriving day after day, assures us the man in his missive. He attached an energetic speech which the Australian Prime Minister, John Howard carried out a few months ago in Sydney and he tells us to observe that though this occurred in Australia, something similar is happening with immigration in general such as in Spain and the entire European Union and the United States of America isn't the exception and he urges us to think about what his speech says. I decided to reproduce it for the public and in our web page you will be able to find this article in English and Spanish.

Speech made by Australia's Prime Minister, John Howard

SYDNEY, December 28, 2007 (Sun Times) - The Prime Minister of Australia, John Howard, told the Muslims who want to live under the Sharia Law to leave Australia during moments where the government is found alienating possible radical groups which could launch terrorists attacks against the town of the island -continent in ones future. As well, Howard aroused the fury of some Australian Muslims when he said, "I have given all my support to the Australian agencies of counter-intelligence so they may spy on the mosques within this nation."

The ones who should adapt when arriving to a new country are the immigrants, not the Australians, he expressed with firmness and leadership. And if you don't like it, then leave. I am fed up that this nation should always be worrying about offending other cultures or other individuals. Since the terrorist attack in Bali, we have experienced an increase in patriotism between the Australians. Our culture has developed over centuries through fights and trials and victories of millions of men and women who came here in search for freedom, added Howard. Here we speak English fundamentally, said the Prime Minister during a moment of his energetic speech. We don't speak Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Japanese nor any other language. For the moment, if any immigrant was to become a part of our society they must learn our language!

The leader went on to say how the majority of Australians are Christians. This is not a political wing nor a political game. It is about one truth of Christian men and women who founded this nation based on Christian principles, which is very well documented in all of our books. Also, it is completely adequate for us to demonstrate our Christian faith within he walls of schools. If Christ offends you, then I suggest you find another part of the world to live in, because God and Jesus Christ are part of our culture. We will tolerate our beliefs, but you have to accept ours in order to live in harmony and peace all together, advised Howard. This is our nation, our native country and these are our customs and style of life. We will allow everyone to enjoy what is ours, once they stop complaining, crying and protesting with our flag, our nation's commitment, our Christian beliefs or our style of life. I recommend you earnestly to take advantage of this grand opportunity of freedom which you have here in Australia. To those who don't like how the Australians live, I remind you of the right to go wherever it is mostly convenient and you have all the freedom to leave. We did not obligate you to come. You asked to migrate over here, and it is time to accept the country which accepted you.

This speech can very well be applied to any ethnic group, beyond religion and beliefs of all types. Do you believe that these should be the "new rules for immigrants?" I ask you: Do you find that the Prime Minister of Australia is right or wrong?
